Description

Council works in partnership with a number of local running clubs to organise and deliver a series of competitive road races and family fun runs located within town centres and town parks. These running events cater for all runners, including elite club level athletes, recreational runners looking to set new personal bests, and those who lead a sedentary lifestyle but want to kickstart a more active lifestyle.

Results and impact

Approximately 2700 participants take part in the race series each year.

The Armagh 10-mile Road Race & 4-mile Fun Run is delivered in partnership with Armagh Athletics Club and has approximately 800 participants each year. Banbridge 10K and Fun Run is delivered in partnership with Banbridge Athletics Club and has approximately 1200 participants each year. Craigavon Lakes 10K & Fun Runs are delivered in partnership with St Peters Athletics Club and has approximately 700 participants each year.

The race series is part of the NI Athletics Federation race list which means participants travel from all across Northern Ireland to take part each year. This may be the only occasion that many of the participants will travel to the borough and this gives an opportunity to promote the borough as an ideal place for outdoor recreation.
